Our Gibbston Cellar Door is housed in the former stone stables of the 1860s Gibbston Hotel, once a resting point for miners travelling between Queenstown and Cromwell during the gold-rush era.
Carefully restored, the historic building is now home to Monte Christo Winery in Gibbston, with a refurbished interior, fireside seating and covered outdoor patio.
Stop in for a wine tasting, stay for a glass of wine or local beer on tap, or settle in with a gourmet platter.
Wine Tastings
From $25 per person
Discover our range of limited-production Central Otago wines with a hosted tasting. Choose from a selection of wine flights on the day.
Walk-ins are welcome for wine tastings. For groups of more than six, please get in touch with our team in advance.
Round out your visit with a selection of local cheeses, charcuterie, breads, olives and accompaniments, available as small plates or to create your own gourmet platter.
Enjoy alongside Monte Christo Winery wines by the glass or bottle, or a local beer on tap, on our covered patio or inside by the fire.
A Gateway to our Clyde Estate
Just 45 minutes away in Clyde, you’ll find our historic estate – home to our 19th-century winery turned cellar door, educational winery tours, the Underground Cellar, Fritzy the Food Trailer, and guest cottages.
We invite you to explore both locations as part of your Monte Christo Winery journey.
